3rd place Pro Class check $100 |
DJ Sandvig #4 YFZ450 makes his Pro Class Debut @ Skagit Speedway September 9, 2006. On Sat. night at Skagit Speedway,
Skagit Powersports sponsored the 3rd Annual Flattrack Motorcycle & Outlaw Quad Racing on the 3/10th's oval track. DJ decided
that would be a good track to try his racing skills in the Pro class, he just turned 16 in May and became eligible to run
the Pro classes. There were approximately 6 quads in the heat race. DJ finished in 2nd place in his heat which was impressive!!
In the main event there were 9 quads total, DJ started on the front row 4th position over. When the green flag dropped
he launched off of the start coming into turn 1 side by side with a few fellow riders, after 12 laps the checkered flag was
dropped & DJ had held his 3rd place position throughout the whole race behind 2 of the fastest guys in the series!! It
was a very good night for DJ, along with being on the podium with a couple of very fast guys, he also took home a check for
$100 not too bad for a ROOKIE on his 1st Pro class race & on a HUGE racetrack normally used for Sprint Cars. DJ would like
to Thank everyone who helped him get this far!! Mom & Dad Associated Roofing Grandma & Granpa Herrera Uncle Troy Pellham

CONGRATULATIONS to DJ & Trevor they finished out thier season @ Monroe BOTH making the podium with 3rd place High Points!!!!!!!
I will have some pics soon of them on the podium!! Our next race is Feburary 11, 2005 @ RMC in Renton. Hope to see you
there!! GOOOOOOOOOO #4 & #4T !!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS also goes out to Austin Elliot #21 & Josh Trenk #28 for also making the podium in thier mini quad classes!!!
They finished 2nd & 3rd overall way to go boys!!! Congrats also go out to Austin Ritchie for HER AWESOME racing for the
1st time on the track!! She started to late to go for high points but she would of podiumed I'm sure as she is a natural
out there I can't wait till next year hopefully Sandvig Racing will have a GIRL on the podium!! Justin Sandvig #21 unfortunetly
was out for the season after an accident on November 26. He did race the last race for the Cycle Barn team race & put a WHOOPIN'
on all the other members WHOOHOO way to go Justin!!!!
Well on December 17, 2005 DJ was presented with his NEW race quad!!!!! We along with Grama Shirley, Grampa Art, & Uncle
Troy purchased him a 2004 Yamaha YFZ450 for Christmas!! We had Santa present it too him at the race for even more added excitement!
It went off without a hitch and he was definetly surprised, he ran right over & gave his Dad a big ol' hug!!
So he is now on updated equipement along with his brother Trevor who is riding his 2005 Kasea Skyhawk 50, we've been working
on modifying Trevor's mini and it is coming along nicely.
Both of the boys are doing VERY well this season at Monroe Indoor Flattrack. Trevor is in 3rd in his 50-65cc Open class which
is an acomplishment in itself seeings how he is running against some very fast kids!! It is making him a better rider we
can see the change!! He is also still in his PeeWee class & doing well also. Taking 1st most of the nights.
DJ is in a close race for 3rd overall once again this year in the 450 Open class, he started the season on Ron's HOnda 426ex
& had a tough time in the 450 open class on that for the first 2 races then Bill Pellham the original owner of the 450 let
him "borrow" it we told him, but it was all a ploy so we could wait till closer to Christmas to give it too him.
So that's our new news for the season so far, after Monroe we will be attending some races at RMC in Renton doing some TT
& flattrack so come on out & see the boys run they are BOTH improving & do as well as we thought they would with new equipement
we are VERY proud of the boys this year!!
